Jack Toffey Secures Record Bonus for Client Chris Dwyer BOSTON, MA (August, 2009) Continuing his record of excellence in a 20 year career, professional sports advisor Jack Toffey of Jack Toffey Sports Management secured a record breaking signing bonus for client Chris Dwyer, the fourth round draft pick of the Kansas City Royals. Dwyer, a left-handed pitcher from Clemson University, received a $1.45 million signing bonus, the largest ever given to a fourth round pick. In his career spanning two decades, Jack Toffey has represented and negotiated top deals on behalf of dozens of professional athletes. The bonus he secured on behalf of the 21-year-old Dwyer exceeded the $1.3 million the New York Yankees gave to fourth-round pick Brad Suttle in 2007 and far eclipses Major League Baseball's recommendation of $240,300 for the 122nd selection slot. Toffey's current client roster includes some of baseball's top young talent including 2008 first-round draft pick Anthony Hewitt. "We are happy that the Kansas City Royals recognized Chris Dwyer's extraordinary talent and rewarded him with a record signing bonus," Toffey said. "We look forward to seeing Chris through a successful major league career." A native of Swampscott, MA, Dwyer is expected to rise quickly through the Kansas City Royals organization. As a freshman at Clemson, he posted a 5-6 record and 4.92 ERA in 17 starts. The talented 6-foot-3 210-pound southpaw has a strong curve ball and a fastball that consistently registers in the mid nineties on the radar gun. ### ![]()
